Graduation Requirements

Poly’s Upper School robust and challenging curriculum provides students the knowledge, study tools, and organizational skills they need to be successful in their college careers and throughout their lives. In completing the required 21 academic credits, students take a wide range of courses deliberately designed to promote meaningful life-long learning.

Upper School students are required to enroll in a minimum of SEVEN courses each semester. A total of 21 academic credits are required for graduation. Full-year courses earn 1.0 credit; semester-long courses earn 0.5 credit.

Each student must fulfill the following graduation requirements:

  • 4 years of English
  • 4 years of Mathematics
  • 3 years of History
  • 3 years of Science
  • 3 consecutive years of the same Classical or World Language (with level III completion)
  • 5 semesters of Arts; including a public speaking course
  • 4 years of Physical Education; including a swim test
  • 2 semesters of Computer Science; including Introduction to Computer Science Principles
  • 1 semester of Health & Wellness
  • 1 semester of Philosophy Seminar (Grade 12)
  • 1 semester of Senior Capstone (Grade 12; spring)
  • Participation on a Service Learning Team
